~ John 16:33 “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”
Jesus was speaking to His disciples about a time of mourning & grief, specifically references to His crucifixion. He told them ahead of time what to expect. When the world was rejoicing they would be weeping, but Jesus went on to say that your grief will turn to joy. Of course this was all in relation to his death and resurrection. Relatively speaking, our sorrows pain & trouble in this life will inevitably come. However, there is peace in knowing that the morning after the storm there is sun, and joy comes in that morning Psalm 30:5
Having the knowledge that Jesus has overcome all the heartache & tragedy already, is our encouragement. He is the one who walks us through the fire & storms of life. When rely on Him and stand on His word, we overcome through what Jesus’ blood has already done. We can look to the Lord and take heart in the fact that He is our victory. He is greater in us than anything we face, go through, or anything this world can throw at us.
Jesus said “I have overcome the world.”
